Runner-up finish for Denis Lynch and Cristello in €100,000 French Grand Prix

The sole Irish representative in today’s €100,000 Grand Prix at Grimaud in the Côte d’Azur region of southeastern France, Tipperary”s Denis Lynch recorded a hugely impressive runner-up finish with the 13-year-old stallion Cristello. Fifteen of the 45 starters made it through to the second round jump-off, with Lynch producing an excellent clear round against the clock to finish just 0.26 of a second behind Belgian winner Niels Bruynseels with Gancia De Muze. It was the second time in 24 hours that Lynch and the Onyx Consulting-owned Cristello had finished as runners-up, having also taken second place in Saturday’s 1m50 competition at the same venue. Wexford’s Harry Allen meanwhile finished best of the Irish in the two-star Grand Prix at Bonheiden in Belgium. He partnered Guinness to fourth place after lowering a single fence in the jump-off. Victory went to Johnny Pals (NED) with Fernando.


Northern Ireland Executive confirm competitive equestrian action can resume from this Saturday July 11th

Horse Sport Ireland are delighted to confirm that following on from discussions between HSI and the Northern Ireland Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DEARA), the Northern Ireland Executive have today (July 9th) announced that equestrian competitions can resume behind closed doors from this Saturday July 11th. Team Ireland will be represented in four FEI international disciplines this weekend, across the USA and Europe


Irish Sport Horse Studbook Show Jumping Series – Galway Equestrian Centre

HHS Vancouver (ISH) by Pacino (BWP) bred and owned by Marion Hughes and ridden by John McEntee, jumped double clear in a time of 31.52 seconds to win the 7-year-old final of first leg of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series at Galway Equestrian Centre. One of only five double clears in the 7-year-old class, McEntee beat off stiff competition from the 30 competitors in the class. In the 5-year-old final, 19 combinations jumped double clear to split the win, while in the 6-year-olds, there were 28 clear rounds. Fourth place finish and personal best score for Ireland’s Anna Merveldt and Esporim in Austrian Grand Prix Special

Irish Dressage rider Anna Merveldt and the 11-year-old stallion Esporim have continued their brilliant recent run of form, by taking an impressive fourth place finish in this morning’s (Sunday) CDI4* Grand Prix Special at Achleiten in Austria. A personal best score as a pairing in Grand Prix Special of 71.426% for Merveldt and Esporim saw them finish narrowly behind third place finisher Florian Bacher (AUS) with Fidertraum (72.872%). Second place went to another Austrian rider, Victoria Max-Theurer and Abegglen NRW (77.702%), while victory went to six-time Olympic Gold medallist, Germany’s Isabel Werth with DSP Quantaz on a score of 80.149%. Anna Merveldt represented Ireland at the London Olympics in 2012 and was part of the Irish team that has qualified for the Tokyo Olympics. In recent weeks Merveldt and Esporim have recorded a string of top-four placings at international Grand Prix level across Europe.
