Brilliant bronze medal for GAIN Irish U16 (Pony) Eventing team at European Championships

Ireland has collected another medal at the U16 (Pony) European Championships at Strzegom in Poland, with the GAIN Irish Eventing team taking the team bronze medal this morning (Sunday). The Irish team of Grace Tyrrell, Brian Kuehnle, Alex Connors and Tiggy Hancock, managed by Becky Cullen, were in fourth place after the opening Dressage phase on Friday and climbed to third after an impressive Cross Country performance on Saturday. The final jumping phase saw Ireland hold onto bronze medal position, finishing on a final score of 131.6. Britain took the gold medal on a score of 101.8 while France claimed the silver on 120.1. Italy finished fourth (147.6) ahead of Netherlands in fifth, Germany in sixth and Denmark in seventh. Ireland’s GAIN U16 Show Jumping team crowned European Champions after dramatic Gold medal decider in Poland

A stunning performance from the GAIN Irish U16 (Pony) Show Jumping team today (Friday) has seen them take the Gold medal at the 2019 European Championships at Strzegom in Poland following a dramatic jump-off against Britain. The Irish team of Francis Derwin (Cul Ban Mistress), Niamh McEvoy (Ardfry Skye), John McEntee (Little Smithe) Tom Wachman (Ocean Des As), and Max Wachman (Cuffesgrange Cavalidam (ISH), finished on a three round total of just 4 faults following a mammoth competition on the final day which lasted for over six hours. Ireland started the morning in fourth place – carrying forward just the four faults picked up in Thursday’s opening competition. Irish Para Dressage team named for European Championships at Rotterdam in The Netherlands

The Irish team has been named for the Longines FEI European Para-Dressage Championships, which start next week at Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Ireland will send a team of three horses and riders who have been named as follows: Tamsin Addison with Donna Siesta Rosemary Gaffney with Werona Michael Murphy with Skjoldsgaard Hippo-v A fourth Irish team member, Kate Kerr-Horan, had been entered for the Championships but has been forced to withdraw her horse for veterinary reasons. Tom MacGuinness and Avril Bray to represent Ireland at this weekend’s FEI European Endurance Championships

The 2019 Meydan FEI Endurance European Championships takes place this Saturday August 17th at Euston Park in England, as a part of the HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum UK Endurance Festival, with Ireland represented by Avril Bray riding Moro Torcaz and Tom MacGuinness with Horseware Sasha D’Aillais. In total 20 countries will be represented by 67 athletes at the Euston Park venue which is set within the beautiful Suffolk countryside and will give riders from across the continent the chance to take in magnificent historic parkland, ancient forests, woodlands and river crossings – all on well-maintained tracks with minimal roadwork.
