Denis Lynch wins Spanish Longines Grand Prix at La Coruña

Tipperary”s Denis Lynch and Ruben’s LS La Silla claimed the winners prize of over €75,000 in Saturday evenings five-star Longines Grand Prix at La Coruña in Spain. Just four of the 36 starters made it into the jump-off, with Lynch posting what proved proved the winning clear round when second to go against the clock. Dutchman Marc Houtzager would finish as runner-up with Sterrehof’s Dante, while Britain’s Robert Whitaker slotted into third place with Catwalk IV. Lynch picked the ride on Rubens LS La Silla back in August, with the 13-year-old stallion having previously been ridden by the Ireland’s Conor Swail. Runner-up finish for Ireland’s Darragh Kenny in Rolex Top 10 Final in Geneva

Offaly’s Darragh Kenny recorded a superb runner-up finish in Saturday night’s prestigious IJRC Rolex Top 10 Final at the five-star Swiss show in Geneva. Riding the Ann Thompson-owned 10-year-old stallion Romeo 88, Kenny was one of just three riders to jump clear in the opening round. He took the lead after jumping clear again second time out in a time of 42.54 seconds and was eventually just edged out for victory by America’s Kent Farrington with the mare Austria, who crossed the line clear in 40.34 to take the winners prize of 160,000 Swiss Franc. Darragh Kenny collected 115,000 CHF for his second place finish, while Germany’s Christian Ahlmann filled third place on the podium with Clintrexo Z. Galway’s Cathal Daniels wins indoor Cross Country at Geneva in Switzerland

For the second year in-a-row, the indoor Cross Country competition at the prestigious Geneva Horse Show in Switzerland has been won by an Irish rider, after Galway’s Cathal Daniels claimed a magnificent victory tonight (Friday) with the Sarah Hughes-owned gelding Alcatraz. Drawn second last to go in the competition, Daniels took the lead with a superb round which brought the Swiss fans to their feet, as he overtook his Irish team mate and defending champion Pádraig McCarthy, who had held the lead for much of the competition with Rosemaber Lancuest. Daniels had an anxious wait before being confirmed as winner, when Karim Florent Laghouag produced a great round with Punch de L’Esques as last to go, with the French rider taking runner-up spot at the finish. HSI Loose Jumping 3 & 4 YO Filly Competition Results from Cavan EC

Horse Sport Ireland held the final loose jumping competition for three and four year old fillies in Cavan Equestrian Centre yesterday evening Tuesday 10th December. The competition has loose jumping categories for both horses and ponies. It’s open to all fillies that are registered with an approved DAFM studbook, WBFSH studbook for horses, and EU studbook for ponies. There were nearly 30 entries competing in Cavan. Cian O’Connor wins Belgian Grand Prix as three Irish riders finish in top five

Ireland’s Cian O’Connor came out on top in today’s (Sunday) two-star Ashford Farm sponsored Grand Prix at Sentower Park in Belgium, where Irish riders were in superb form filling three of the top five places. O’Connor (pictured) was riding the Ronocco Jump-owned 10-year-old gelding Lazzaro delle Schiave, with victory coming after a 16-horse jump-off. The London Olympic Bronze medalist stopped the clock clear in 40.72 seconds which was the fastest of nine double clear rounds. Mikey Pender also took fourth place for Ireland with The Irish Sport Horse HHS Calais, just ahead of Jenny Rankin in fifth with Quentin PJ. Meanwhile at Salzburg four-star show in Austria, Tipperary’s Shane Breen recorded two runner-up finishes. He guided the Carmel Ryan-owned Compelling Z to second spot in the 1m55, while he also took second spot in a 1m50 with Evita.


Darragh Kenny takes fourth place in €300,000 Longines Masters of Paris Grand Prix

Offaly’s Darragh Kenny has continued his impressive run of form, by taking fourth place in today’s (Sunday) €300,000 Longines Masters of Paris five-star Grand Prix in France. Riding the nine-year-old gelding Classic Dream, who is owned by Ann Thompson, Kenny was one of just six riders who managed to jump clear in the first round. They also kept all the poles standing in the second round jump-off and crossed the line clear in 36.69 seconds when fourth to go. French riders filled all of the top three places on the podium, with Simon Delestre and Hermes Ryan taking the winners prize of €99,000 with a time of 35.34. Darragh Kenny maintained his position of No.8 on the latest World Rankings which were released this week and will next week take part in the Rolex Top 10 final at CHI Geneva in Switzerland.
